Texture

This urchin vase is just gorgeous and the dried hydrangeas came from my birthday bouquet.

Going to a pig roast party for New Years. Hoping 2013 is a great year for us all!

Sweater Set

It's my  take on an old classic. I was making the skirt (without a pattern!) and I cut the sleeves out of this felted sweater only to find that I liked the design and decided to keep the rest of it intact. Snow threatening outside...to divert myself briefly I ordered ribbon from Britex in San Francisco.

Color Swatch App

I found a new toy, IRODORI. I like taking photos with colors that inspire me and now I've found an app that helps me isolate those colors and translate them to a swatch palette. There were other options that further identified the PANTONE colors and I may regret I didn't get this one called COLOR ID. The important thing is to pick and try it out.

Dog Days

I got a little too caught up in the commissioned skirt today and lost my sense of humor. I stopped to have a session with my favorite counselor...

Beads and Buddies

I hope everyone has access to a group of friends that you can not only be yourself and share your deepest, darkest secrets, but inspire you to be a better person. I'm lucky to have such a litter of girls. Thank you, girls.

Beads were my inspiration today. So far, just to look at. Such lovely colors...

Winter Wonderland

What a beautiful and unexpected day of snow! I spent the day working in the studio on a sewing commission while Randy took my sewing machine to St. George for a repair. What a guy!

Felted Skirt Inspired by Prana

I saw this in a catalog and thought I might be able to make it myself.

It was a very merry Christmas with great food and friends! The lasagna and tiramisu were made totally from scratch. Thank you to my talented friends, Bekky and Luke.

Bird on a Limb Skirt

FRONT

BACK
I tried a new pattern. I wanted to see if I could add a spot color without taking a week to produce a skirt. It wasn't bad. I like the overall design and colors.

High Museum of Art and Fox Bros. BBQ

Great day of art and good food!

Anish Kapoor and Thiebaud, an interesting Bierstadt at the High Museum of Art.
Fox Brothers BBQ was worth the traffic. Fried pickles for an appetizer was a first.

No Poo Update

If it works for me in Atlanta then it works anywhere...notorious humidity and rain all day and still no frizz. My hair is happy!

Playing in Atlanta

Three girls, four GPS options...

We ate at Wildflour in Alpharetta and it was fabulous! Owner, Michael Field was a gem. 5815 Windward Pkwy., Ste 210.

My favorite consignment store was a toss between Designer Consigner and The Finer Consigner. Atlanta knows how to dress!

First Snow in Zion

Ahhh...First snow in Zion and mysterious light on the sandstone walls. I had a lovely morning walk with Randy and a good friend. Inspiration is a big part of art and we have it here in spades.

Etsy and Arts to Zion

I spent the day listing Etsy store items and I've completed 7 of 10 small paintings for the "Arts to Zion" event.
This watercolor is from a recent hike down Kanarraville Canyon. They will be 4" x 6" paintings framed to 6" x 8" for $120.

Finishing Projects & Another Present!

I've finally completed all assignments prior to the holidays. Now I can go have fun!

Barbara Ellard made these monotype cards for all her friends. She's amazing, coordinating colors to her friends favorites and monogramming them as well. Wow! They are beautiful.

Fused Glass Aria

Wow! What a fun day! My amazing sister-in-law, Carrie Trenholm, is an amazing fused glass artist. For my birthday, she let me browse her glass and make my own piece of art in her studio today. This measures 9 x 16 inches. I'm so excited to see the final results. It goes in the kiln and then who knows!

Controlled by the Corset

This is 92% done. It needs to have the threads tied off and cut and a little hand sewing on the bottom hem. While my first shirt ever, I'm not entirely satisfied. I did learn that there is a reason for cutting the fabric as closely to the pattern as possible. A fitted shirt is not the best beginner project (I knew that!).

Disarray

Feast of famine as they say...the studio is a mess of projects from a felted soap order to watercolors to the ongoing sewing project...it feels good to be working, but oh! the chaos!

Dead Faint & Corsets

Felled Seam on the Right Side
I'm coming down the home stretch on the corset / bodice and I slice the top of my right thumb off cooking dinner last night.

I didn't sleep for the throbbing in my thumb all night. In the morning I get up and clean it in the sink, but as I straighten up to head toward coffee my head starts spinning and I know I'm going to faint. I shuffled as fast as I could to the couch because I didn't want to hit the hardwood floor in a big flop. It wasn't certain but I made it.

I had decided while not sleeping that I could paint with the thumb damaged but not sew today...in case anyone doubted I'm stubborn, I continued sewing...

Day of Avoidance

I spent a good part of the day loading items to my shop on Etsy, http://www.etsy.com/shop/arianagirl. I'm avoiding two things, 1) a commission piece of sewing that is requiring A LOT of work and I asked too little and; 2) painting for two shows coming up early winter and early spring.

Alpenglow Skies

It's a great scene that greets me as I go from studio to house and back. Sunset today was wonderful!

New project is a reverse appliqué corset...just a little harder than a skirt to get the fitting right. It's upcycled from old t-shirts.

Fruits of Tucson

Lemons and grapefruits right off the tree! Plus Mom made cheesecake, a standing order for my birthday.
