Purse with Square Handles

Challenging...especially the sewing a lining and exterior at the same time. I made up the handles attachment on my own.

Framed Earring Display

My friend and jeweler, Lisa Priestley, showed me her trick of using and old frame and bamboo skewers to display earrings. I found a great frame and painted it, drilled the holes and had the skewers. Here's what I made for the store to display her earrings today!

Prescott Treasures

There were some pretty great places to shop in Prescott. I never made it past Cortez Street before Randy picked me up and whisked me away to camp outside Flagstaff in the National Forest. My thanks to Leia for giving me a list of her favorite places in advance...I mostly found things to help display other things in the store and parts for more projects.

Today's Apricot Harvest

Six jars of jam, 1 pound cake, 5 tiers of dried fruit and still a mess of them in the sink...I just ran out of steam...

Dye Job

I tried my hand at dyeing fabric today with an ombré technique. The color back washed even though I pre-washed with the appropriate product and followed with another wash post dyeing. I think I require urea and a different mixture of soda ash. I liked the colors...tangerine and eggplant.

Reception and Memorial (Not Necessarily in that Order)

Today we said good bye to a role model, a woman with strong principles, strong character, integrity and good taste. Wilma Angius, you will be missed by many...may we all live as well, as fully and with as much commitment as you did.

Thank you DeZion Gallery for a lovely reception...your efforts on my behalf are appreciated. My lovely friends and community came despite our tears at Wilma's all afternoon.

Thank you Ingrid for sitting the store so I could do all of these things! I am a lucky, lucky girl!

Commissioned Work

I'm working on an order for a client. I've finished a few pieces in the last couple of days...the lavender sachets are from her Irish satin wedding dress train and the pillows are from vintage French flour sacking. I suppose this is one way to work with quality materials. I'll be starting on a larger project tomorrow or perhaps I'll try to get into town for supplies.

Surprises from Cali

Neighbors brought over a host of tiny succulents from their California garden...oh my! Do they ever make me happy.
