Prescott Fun

Wish there were more time, but need to get home. Prescott sure looks like a fun town. We ate at The Raven.

Popcycle in Tucson

Looking for an outlet for the miniature art pieces...this place is adorable and a real possibility. I took Mom to coffee, and this place was fantastic. Both are on 4th Avenue, close to the university (Tucson).

Happy Birthday to Me!

It's my annual visit to my friend...it's the first example of saguaro as you descend into Bumble Bee north of Phoenix. I just love seeing them! Even better it was my birthday today.

Upcycled t-shirt SKIRT

I'll have three of these at the Arts & Crafts Fair this weekend in Springdale at the Community Center, 10-5pm.

I don't think I've ever made six of anything, but I'm keeping three as templates for the next batch. (1) Charcoal Grey with Avocado Flower pattern, (2) Brown with Purple and Green Oval Pattern and Contrasting Threads, (3) Black with Charcoal Grey Rectangles and Squares with Turquoise Thread.

I'm putting a price tag of $35 which doesn't begin to cover my time at the moment, but I'm still learning.

Art Cart

I found this metal cart at the trash bin. I gave it a paint job and added casters (wheels) and now it helps keep me even more organized!

Springdale Arts & Crafts Fair

Time for the fair! I've been determined to make things from all the material that I've gathered for years in order to make room and tidy up the studio. I will be offering felted soap stones, decorative dessert dishes, miniature art postcards with vintage buttons, letterpress cards, art brush organizers, lavender sachets and more!

Becca Lieberg will be joining me. She'll be contributing her fabulous knitted items.

Stop by on Friday and Saturday at the community center on Lions Blvd. from 10-5.

Warm & Wooly Skirt

Now that one job is done and I have time to be a creator again...I've been gathering materials for sewing. This skirt was a challenge I made up in order to re-use a zip fleece jacket, zipper and all. I added some color and geometric shapes for interest from another two old fleece shirts that I've loved and worn for years.

Land of Contrast

This is a collaborative effort that I participated in over the summer. The show begins on Friday, November 16th with a reception from 7 - 9 pm.

The Park Service has done a great job of promoting its beautiful lands and scenery. The Forest Service in this case is jumping aboard to promote the amazing diversity and beauty within its jurisdiction.

I'm surprised by the amount of land and the variation within for the Dixie National Forest. We have years of exploration ahead of us.

No Shampoo Treatment Week 2

Getting better...no shampoo not as bad as it sounds. I also bought a book I recommend, Curly Girl: the Handbook.

Buffalo Kaplinski Watercolors

I watched another watercolor demo today at the Zion National Park Plein Air Event. This is Buffalo Kaplinski. I'm attracted to his use of color, but he uses such a different technique that I was very happy to observe him in person and appreciate firsthand what he sees.

Demo by Gloria Miller Allen

Loads of talented artists in Zion National Park this week for the Plein Air event. I went to Gloria's watercolor demo. Her technique is very tight and one of her signatures is Zion rocks.

No Poo! Haircare

It's an unfortunate name for a great idea...I've started washing my hair with baking soda and a vinegar rinse instead of using harsh shampoos and conditioners with fragrance and other chemicals. One time and there is already a noticeable difference. I think the vinegar softens our hard water.

For the day after the election and president Obama...let's think about the future.

Cable Works Hike

I hiked with a bunch of co-workers out to the recently refurbished cable works, around 8 miles. It was a gorgeous Fall day. Inclement weather headed our way and the beautiful fall colors will be gone...

Orange Poppy Cards

I made these on the letterpress with a linoleum block print and Gill Sans lead type. I'll be selling these at the arts and crafts fair on November 23 - 24th in Springdale at the Canyon Community Center.

Hiking Hidden Canyon

So many fun things in play, having a fun hike with girlfriends tops the list...Michelle brought her fabulous Diana and Terese experimented with her new Canon. We coached Zion park visitors, solved the world's problems, discussed movies, books and travel and generally enjoyed a beautiful day. Thank you, Randy for making the margaritas on our return!

Geography of Bliss

Good read and great suggestions for potential travel...published by TWELVE books. It's worth checking out their book list and mission.
